At Jim Hayes Ford-Lincoln Inc., we know that modern customers expect a lot from new vehicles. Well, the Ford Explorer is an SUV that can rise to any occasion. It's durable, practical, and capable, and it's packed with high-tech features.
There are actually three choices for the powertrain. Two of them use EcoBoost engines, and one is a hybrid version. The hybrid runs on an electric motor and a 3.3-liter, gas-powered V6. These two components work together to deliver 318 horsepower.
The first EcoBoost has a displacement of 2.3 liters. It'll give you 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, which should be more than sufficient for most situations. If you need more power than this, you won't be disappointed. The higher trims in the Explorer lineup use 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engines. Most versions of this engine can generate 365 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. In the ST, the engine can make 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque.
